Stephen McCallum was born and raised in Perth, cutting his teeth on award-winning music videos before heading east to study directing at AFTRS.
While at AFTRS, Steve won “The Exceptional Talent Award” & “The AFTRS EU Scholarship.” He also made several acclaimed short films and directed his first TVC.
You may have seen that spot. 15 million people around the world certainly did. Steve’s commercial in support of gay marriage, entitled Its Time, was a viral sensation, receiving blog and news coverage around the world – including being recognised by Ad News as THE viral campaign of the year. Not bad for his first gig.
Most recently, McCallum has completed a 2 year drama deployment where he was hand-picked by Glendyn Ivin as DA and 2nd unit director on Gallipoli. Prior to that, McCallum worked with Tony Ayres on feature film Cut Snake.
Stephen has garnered a reputation for creating dynamic story worlds with a distinctive voice and strong artistic vision. He has a passion for engaging the audience through natural performance and immersive visuals.
